Grant Overview

The Education Collaborative is an effort of the Oil & Gas Industry and Santa Maria section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)  to support the academic efforts of teachers and students in the areas of math, science and technology.

Eligibility:

  • Current funding initiatives are limited to projects in Santa Barbara County
  • Any kindergarten-12th grade teacher, group of teachers, or administrator in the geographic area referenced above.
  • Grant requests should not exceed $1500 unless prior approval has been given.

 

Grant Proposal Guidelines:

The following information must be included in grant proposals submitted for consideration.
Incomplete proposals will not be reviewed.

The Education Collaborative and the SPE - Santa Maria Chapter are operated solely by volunteers. As such, notification will only be provided to the approved grant proposals..

Evaluation Criteria:

Does the proposal clearly define the math and science components of the project?
(Preference will be given to the proposals that include an energy-related theme).

Are the goals and intended outcome of the proposal clearly defined?
Is the budget detailed, reasonable and understandable?
Does the project have a clear timetable and evaluation procedure?
